Rendering of Cathedral Commons
The Giant on Wisconsin Ave (map) will finally close on April 12th, reported The Washington Post, making way for the long-awaited $125 million mixed-use development coming to Cleveland Park. Giant is working with The Bozzuto Group on the project.
The development, dubbed Cathedral Commons, will include a bigger, better Giant. Set to deliver in 2014, the complex will also have 137 apartments, 8 townhomes and about 70,000-square feet of retail. Some residents have been protesting against the development for years; the closing of the supermarket marks a big step forward in the process, and construction should be starting this spring.
