Two cities in Nothern Virginia are among the country’s best places to meet the unhitched and well-to-do — or so says Money Magazine in its recent ranking, Best places for the rich and single. “Seeking a sugar daddy (or sugar-mama)?” asks the article. “Follow the money to these towns and cities, where affluent young professionals are abundant.”
Of the 25 companies to make the list, Herndon, Virginia came in at number 8 thanks to its population of young techies who work at places like AOL that are sprinkled throughout the Dulles Tech Corridor. Over 33 percent of Herndon’s population is single, and the median family income is $109,217.
But the big winner for our area is Arlington, Virginia, which snagged the silver, just behind number-one Hermosa Beach, California. Apparently Arlington, with a population that is 41.6 percent single and a median family income of $108,815, is filled with young brainiacs and “government types” who work in places like the Pentagon or Office of Naval Research.
We’re not sure whether to believe that characterization of Arlington, or this one:
What do you think? Is Money Magazine right about Arlington and Herndon? Let us know in the comments.
