New images provide a better sense of the big residential plans in the works for the Americana hotel site in Arlington.
JBG Smith's redevelopment plans for the former hotel at 1400 Richmond Highway (map) include a by-right 19-story building with 636 residential units above retail. There will be 191 on-site parking spaces across two below-grade parking levels, and an additional 200 spaces provided at the garage from The Bartlett apartments across the street. bKL Architecture is the designer.

JBG Smith acquired the hotel in late 2020, not long after it closed its doors. The new building will sit adjacent to Amazon's HQ2 and, as ARLnow reported earlier this year, the sloping nature of the site as well as how neighboring properties will be developed may effect the ease to redevelop the site. The new renderings (more below) were included as part of JBG Smith's presentation to Arlington's Site Plan Review Committee just before Thanksgiving.
