The tall, glassy, futuristic-looking building pictured above will eventually be coming to North Bethesda.
Architects ArchiBIM, working with STUDIOS Architecture, has released revamped renderings of the second phase of JBG’s North Bethesda Market (dubbed North Bethesda Market II). Phase Two will consist of 347 residential units in a high-rise structure and a larger complex with 120,000 square feet of retail and 150,000 square feet of office space. At about 300 feet tall, the residential building will be the tallest in Montgomery County.
The striking design has a facade comprised largely of glass. A couple smooth sides are juxtaposed with blockier sides which have boxes jutting out at random intervals that create bay windows and balcony areas.
The modern building is adjacent to North Bethesda Market’s first phase which, at 289 feet, is currently the tallest building around. Phase One, completed in 2010, is anchored by Whole Foods and has about 400 high-end residences. Phase Two is scheduled for completion in 2014.
The rare high-rise buildings are (or will be) located on Rockville Pike, between Nicholson Lane and Executive Boulevard (map), close to the White Flint Metro station.
