Mayor Hints at Raising Taxi Rates

In an interview with TBD’s NewsTalk on Thursday, Mayor Vincent Gray hinted that taxi rates could increase in DC.
“It’s not the meters themselves. It’s the rate that the meters are set at. That’s something we are going to look at. And I think when you look at it and compare it to other cities, our taxi rates are low,” Gray said.
The talk to increase fares comes after the Mayor has already lifted the $19 fare maximum cap for a ride in the city and added a $1 fuel surcharge.
