Marriott has announced that it will open Canal House, a Tribute Portfolio hotel, at 1023 31st Street NW (map) by the end of February. The hotel has been in the works for a few years. In 2022, Douglas Development applied for historic preservation concept review to retrofit a five-story office building along 31st Street NW into a new hotel, incorporating the adjacent rowhouses.
