Inspiring Future Buyers To Renovate on Harvard Hill

The Harvard Hill portfolio
Real estate agent Ed Schneider is testing out an innovative tactic to attract buyers to a home that he will soon be putting up for sale.
The rowhouse at 1759 Harvard Street NW (map), which will hit the market in the coming week, is part of a block of homes known as Harvard Hill that sit on a hillside at the edge of Mount Pleasant. Designed by architects Berla & Abel in 1943 in a spartan style for the “burgeoning bureaucracy”, many of the homes on Harvard Hill have since been renovated in a variety of ways. And Schneider is looking to take advantage of that.
1759 Harvard Street NW is still in a relatively raw state, having not been renovated since the 1970s. So, Schneider hopes to inspire future buyers to imagine what the home could look like by gathering photos of successful renovations from the block. He has compiled a large-scale packet of living room and kitchen photos from homes on Harvard Hill for potential owners to flip through. Since most of the homes on Harvard Hill have similar floorplans, mimicking one of the renovations in the portfolio wouldn’t be too difficult.
Below are photos of the current state of the home that Schneider will be listing and a few images of renovations on Harvard Hill.
