Good News? Homes are Selling for Close to Asking Price in DC Area
Here is some news that will probably make home sellers in the DC area happy. A report from home valuation website Zillow.com states that properties on the market in the region are getting close to their asking prices, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The only downside is that it appears that sellers are lowering their asking prices in order to sell.
From the WBJ:
“[Zillow’s] September data shows the median sales price for a home in the Washington metro area was $356,700 — 2 percent less than the most recent listing price. Nationally, homes are selling on average for about 3.3 percent less than asking price.”
Obviously in an ideal situation, homes would be selling for close to asking without a price reduction, but with the market being what it is this is still welcome news.
