While plans emerged for a mixed-use redevelopment of a Mount Pleasant laundromat at the end of 2019, a new iteration of the project will deliver more units and has a brand new design.
Velocity Property Management has applied for historic preservation review of a concept to replace the laundromat at 3215 Mount Pleasant Street NW (map) with 15 residential units and 1,420 square feet of ground-floor retail. Previous plans were reported as delivering nine units above 2,000 square feet of retail.

The unit mix will span from studios to two-bedrooms, and two of the units would be inclusionary zoning. There will also be a bike room on the ground floor and a shared courtyard on the second floor.
The adaptive reuse project would demolish the interior structure, as well as the rear exterior walls, and the majority of the units would be across a three-story addition.
The renderings appear to show the "Heller's Bakery" mural/sign on the adjacent building being replicated on the new construction. Kasa is the architect. Additional renderings are below.
