$22 Million: Forest Hills Mansion Becomes DC's Most Expensive Home

Fessenden House
A sprawling 20,000-square-foot home in Forest Hills recently hit the market for $22 million, making it the most expensive home for sale in the District.
The home, called Fessenden House, is listed by both Long and Foster Real Estate and its affiliate Christie’s. It’s owned by Samuel Lehrman, whose family co-founded Giant supermarket, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The formal home was modeled after 18th century English and Scottish architecture, according to the listing. It was built on three lots, and has a pool, a poolhouse, an elevator, a wine cellar and tasting room and even private quarters for staff.
Fessenden House ties the price tag of the Textile Museum listings on S Street in Kalorama at $22 million, although the S Street property is technically two side-by-side listings.
