One of the founders of Facebook is listing his DC home for sale about five years after purchasing it.
Chris Hughes and husband Sean Eldridge are putting their Kalorama home on the market for $8.75 million. Marin Hagen and Sylvia Bergstrom of Coldwell Banker are representing the sellers.
Hughes purchased the six-bedroom home along Phelps Place NW back in 2021 for just under $8 million. Hagen told UrbanTurf at the time that the couple's primary home was in New York, but they wanted a home in DC as they are often in town to see friends and for work commitments.
The renovated six-bedroom home maintains a number of aspects from when it was built in the early 20th century, but also has a large chef's kitchen with high-end appliances, an owner's suite with a fireplace, a large media room, a full-sized gym, and a rear garden and terrace with a fire pit, grill and fountain.
Hughes and Eldridge's home purchase added to Kalorama's growing reputation as DC's home to the glitterati. In 2017, President Barack Obama rented then purchased a home in the neighborhood, and that same year, Jeff Bezos purchased the former Textile Museum on S Street NW and set about on a mammoth renovation. During their short time in DC, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner also rented a home in the neighborhood between Connecticut Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue NW.
