Swann House
Dupont Circle’s Swann House, a 12-bedroom bed and breakfast, will be auctioned off next Thursday, UrbanTurf has learned.
The property at 1808 New Hampshire Avenue NW (map) hit the market last year for $6.95 million, and saw its price reduced a few times. Presumably unable to find a buyer, a series of auctions were scheduled for the property which were either then postponed or canceled altogether.
Auctioneer Tranzon Fox told UrbanTurf that the auction scheduled for next Thursday, December 19th, will move forward and will take place at the bed and breakfast. Interested bidders can preview the property this Friday.

The 12-bedroom property is massive, and as one might expect from a bed and breakfast, there are plenty of luxurious trimmings, like intricately carved fireplaces in the bedrooms, whirlpool bathtubs, a swimming pool, and a number of private terraces. The house was built in 1883 and has an appropriately historic feel.
Swann House joins a handful of other bed and breakfasts in the area that have been sold or auctioned in the past couple of years. DC GuestHouse, a smaller bed and breakfast, sold in 2012 for $1.85 million after sitting on the market for over a year.
