It looks like the recent surge in foreclosures in DC is prompting action from the city. The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has announced that it will hold a homeownership and foreclosure prevention clinic this Saturday, May 16.
The clinic is free and will be held from 10am to 2pm at Marshall Heights Community Development Organization at 3939 Benning Road NE (see map here). The clinic seems like a good opportunity for people who fear that they may be on the verge of foreclosure to meet with a HUD-certified counselor.
For those who wish to meet with a counselor, DHCD says that you should bring a copy of your mortgage agreement, recent pay stubs (for employment & income verification), any late notices or default letters from the lender, and copies of a credit report.
For more information, call (202) 442-7200.
