DC Announces a New Team Devoted to the Streetcar Initiative
Richard Layman, author of the blog Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space, was at last week’s meeting about the DC streetcar initiative. The initiative, which has seen its share of delays and hurdles, received some buzz recently after a report in the Washington Business Journal that it might be reinvigorated by federal funding from the Department of Transportation.
Layman posted about the meeting, which was highlighted by DC’s Department of Transportation director Gabe Klein announceming of the creation of a new team devoted to making DC streetcars a reality. This is consistent with Klein’s assurances to the WBJ that the DDOT is definitely “following through on [the streetcar initiative].”
See the full post for more notes from the meeting.
