Could the Verizon Center Be the Capital One Center in 2019?
Apparently this is name change week in DC.
While a few days ago talk started that movie chain AMC was going to replace the iconic Uptown Theater sign (widespread opposition seems to have shut this idea down), an intriguing post yesterday intimated that the Verizon Center might have a new name by the end of the next year.

DomainNameWire.com, a site dedicated to news about new and changing web domains, wrote yesterday that Capital One had registered a number of web domains that could indicate their interest in taking over the naming rights for the arena.
While dozens of domain names were registered by the company, the following names at least give some credence to the assertion made in the post:
capital1ArenaDC.com
capital1CenterDC.com
cap1arenadc.com
cap1centerdc.com
cap1dcarena.com
cap1dccenter.com
capital1centerdc.com
capital1dcarena.com
capital1dccenter.com
capitalonearenadc.com
capitalonecenterdc.com
Verizon has the naming rights for the arena until the end of 2018.
