DCmud recently reported that construction on The Monty, a 174-foot apartment building in Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle, will start in January. The apartment project will be located near the intersection of Fairmont Avenue and St. Elmo’s Avenue (map).
Once complete, the 200-unit building will join the Chevy Chase Towers and Clark Tower as one of the tallest buildings in Bethesda. Scheduled for occupancy in 2013, the building will have a gym and terrace on the 15th floor, and four levels of below-grade parking, according to DCmud. The Monty will also have a 20-foot wide pedestrian walkway connecting Fairmont and St. Elmo’s Avenue and retail presence on the ground floor.
The Monty is not the only “Monty” that the downtown section of Bethesda is expecting. Just over a month ago, we reported via The Post’s Jonathan O’Connell that The Darcy, a 250-unit condo project that will be located at the corner of Bethesda and Woodmont Avenue, will break ground next year. The project is the product of a partnership between seasoned condo developers PN Hoffman (founder Monty Hoffman) and StonebridgeCarras. It will initially have 60 luxury condos ranging in price from $750,000 to $3 million, and construction is scheduled for completion in 2014.
