Above Asking: A $500,000 Premium in Chevy Chase
This week's Above Asking features a three-bedroom bungalow in Chevy Chase that sold for more than half a million dollars above asking.
$100,000 Above For a Goodman Ranch
This mid-century modern ranch-style house, designed by architect Charles Goodman, has the prestige of being located in the Hollin Hills section of Alexandria, and a buyer was willing to pay for that prestige. The home recently sold for more than $100,000 above its original asking price. A brick partition at the flagstone-paved foyer doubles as a fireplace facing the living room, which has a wall of stacked windows. The owner's bedroom also has stacked windows beside a brick accent corner, and another bedroom/office has a shallow floor-to-ceiling bay window. Out back, there are steps up to multiple elevated patio areas and an accessory studio with a pitched ceiling and clerestory windows.

Half a Million More For a Chevy Chase Bungalow
Heavy competition resulted in a massive premium for this three-bedroom Chevy Chase bungalow. Listed for around $1.2 million, the home sold last week for close to $1.7 million. With new 2019 renovations, the new buyers will enjoy a redesigned kitchen featuring a breakfast bar with hidden accent lighting, quartz countertops, custom cabinets, a Wolf range and a built-in Bosch refrigerator. In front of the home, there is a small porch that could comfortably fit a small table and two chairs. Behind the house, there is a spacious grass backyard and stone outlay for additional patio space.
