Above Asking: Huge Premiums From Brentwood to Takoma
This week’s edition of Above Asking revisits two listings that sold for significantly higher than their asking price.
A $90,000 Premium For a Brentwood Three-Bedroom
This mid-century Cape Cod in Brentwood was on the market for just five days before a buyer paid $90,000 above the listing price to get it under contract. Two of the home's three bedrooms are on the main level, one of which has recessed shelving and a cedar-clad walk-in closet with built-ins. The home's galley kitchen has gray and white tiled floors, gray cabinetry surrounding the white farmhouse basin sink with drainboards on either side, and a breakfast nook near the back door. Stairs in the kitchen lead up to an upper level beneath a vaulted ceiling, with a sitting area or bonus room on one side and an L-shaped bedroom with built-ins, a wall-to-wall window bench, and an en-suite bath on the other. The home has a spacious, unfinished lower level, solar panels, and off-street parking.
