This week’s edition of Above Asking revisits two listings that sold for significantly higher than their asking price.

A $90,000 Premium For a Brentwood Three-Bedroom

This mid-century Cape Cod in Brentwood was on the market for just five days before a buyer paid $90,000 above the listing price to get it under contract. Two of the home's three bedrooms are on the main level, one of which has recessed shelving and a cedar-clad walk-in closet with built-ins. The home's galley kitchen has gray and white tiled floors, gray cabinetry surrounding the white farmhouse basin sink with drainboards on either side, and a breakfast nook near the back door. Stairs in the kitchen lead up to an upper level beneath a vaulted ceiling, with a sitting area or bonus room on one side and an L-shaped bedroom with built-ins, a wall-to-wall window bench, and an en-suite bath on the other. The home has a spacious, unfinished lower level, solar panels, and off-street parking.

$130,000 Above Asking For a Corner Takoma Bungalow

This 2,700 square-foot bungalow with its generous wraparound porch caught the eye of many interested buyers, hence the six-figure premium it fetched. The living room has a white painted brick fireplace with mantel, and the kitchen has white subway tile walls, open shelving, a stainless steel hood above the stove, and a breakfast bar island. The dining room has a butler's pantry area built out of one wall and a bright bonus nook. Two bedrooms share a bath with double sink off the hall on the main level, and the lower level has a rec room with office nook, a third bedroom, a full bath, and a laundry room. The corner lot offers ample side- and backyard space, along with a bi-level slate patio with built-in fire pit.
