A church in a prominent location along 16th Street NW has been listed for sale.
The Church of the Holy City at 1611 16th Street NW (map) hit the market on Tuesday for $5 million. Listing agent Bo Billups told UrbanTurf that the church is selling because it is moving to a new location.

"Church of the Holy City is in the process of moving to a new space which will be better suited to meet the needs and size of the current congregation," Billups said. "This will mark the third big move for the congregation whose original church was located where a U.S. Senate office building stands today."
Built in 1894, the sanctuary building was designed by renowned architect H. Langford Warren. The south wing was added in 1912, and the building now spreads out over 16,150 square feet.
One of the potential conversion ideas being pitched for the listing is high-end condominiums. Architect Bonstra Haresign has created conceptual residential floorplans that are included with the listing.
