A large affordable housing development is on the boards for Rockville.
TM Associates Development has submitted a concept plan application to Montgomery County to build a 152-unit project at 11800 Nebel Street (map). The development, designed by Mode 4 Architecture, would take the place of a 1970s-era building on the site.

The new project would rise seven stories with several floors of apartments above one level of private structured parking. It would have a community room, fitness center, business center, and “living room” for residents. The floorplans would range from one- to four-bedrooms, affordable to 30%-80% median family income.
"The Applicant will be applying for Low Income Housing Tax Credits (“LIHTC”) from the Maryland Community Development Administration, and is actively working to identify a combination of public and private resources for the financing of this attainable housing development community," the filing with Montgomery County stated.
The renderings submitted for the project are preliminary and likely to change.
Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that the development team had applied for financial support from the Amazon Housing Equity Fund and Montgomery County. A TM Associates representative tells UrbanTurf they have not done this yet.
