A new all-affordable residential development is on the boards for a church-owned site in the U Street Corridor.
Beacon Communities and the Christian Tabernacle Church of God have filed plans with DC's Historic Preservation Office to construct a seven-story, 65-unit all-affordable development at 2033 11th Street NW (map).

In addition to the residential component, the new development will have a 7,000 square-foot child development center, as well as a new community plaza.
"The three and four story bays engage the existing rowhome context on 10th Street, allowing the seven story apartment building to feel set back," the HPO application stated. "Designed with warm-tone brick as the main element, and with a diverse unit mix from studios to three-bedrooms, this new neighborhood anchor will provide housing for a wide range of residents."
The development, designed by architecture firm Soto, would sit directly next to the existing church building.
