Based on the number of new hotels on the boards for DC, there is clearly a feeling among developers that the city’s hospitality industry will be booming in the coming years.
A 14-story hotel/apartment house hybrid is in the planning stages for Mount Vernon Triangle from developer Habte Sequar and PGN Architects. The planned development would be located at 303-317 K Street NW (map), and would consist of approximately 200 hotel rooms on floors 1-11, and an apartment house on floors 12-14 with approximately 30 rental units. There will be an open court behind the property, and two levels of underground parking spaces with a total of 42 spaces.

The new project is just one of several new hotels that has been proposed in the city recently. Below is a quick rundown of the other proposals:
- An 11-story, 178-room hotel that will have a substantial focus on DC’s artistic community is planned adjacent to Union Market.
- A NoMa warehouse will be converted into a boutique hotel, 370 rental units and space for retail and offices.
- Another hotel/apartment house development is on the boards for 901 5th Street NW. It will include 153 hotel rooms and 5,500 square feet of “meeting/function space” on the first eight floors, and 52 apartments on floors 9-12.
