The operating issues that have plagued Metro trains in recent years have been a constant thorn in the side of regular riders. From arcing insulators to derailments to frequent delays, the reliability of the region’s Metro system is called into question on an almost daily basis.
Now, extreme measures are being taken in order to resolve these problems. Under the SafeTrack plan, wide-ranging maintenance will include shutting down segments of train lines for extended periods.
