In What X Buys You this week, we take a look at properties that recently came on the market in the $335,000-$350,000 range to give readers an idea of what type of home this price point offers in DC.
Mount Pleasant One-Bedroom (Dewey Decimal Does Not Convey)
This one-bedroom unit is located on an upper floor at a condo building called the Alroy at the corner of Mount Pleasant Street and Kenyon Street NW. The unit has just under 700 square feet of space, hardwood floors and the current owner looks to own an old library card catalog that we imagine does not convey with the unit. A $281 monthly condo fee covers standard building maintenance, trash removal and water usage, but the unit does not come with parking or a washer/dryer. However, the price per square foot is on par for the area and the high altitude location offers views of the National Cathedral. For the full listing, click here.

One-Bedroom Living at the Car Barn
The streetcar depot-turned-condo building called The Car Barn in Capitol Hill has become an increasingly attractive option for young homebuyers in the city. This newly renovated one-bedroom, one-bath unit has a spacious living room with a gas fireplace, an updated galley kitchen with a wine cooler, and a bedroom with large closets. The unit includes a washer/dryer and offers rental parking. The monthly fees are low at $201 a month, and pay for, among other things, access to the building’s pool. The location is not near much in the way of local attractions, but is close to Lincoln Park and only a 10-15 minute walk from Eastern Market and Barracks Row. For the full listing, click here.

750 Square-Foot One-Bedroom On the ‘Other’ Side of Cleveland Park
The largest and highest priced of the three condos featured, this first floor one-bedroom unit on the Wisconsin Avenue side of Cleveland Park has an updated kitchen and bathroom and a wood-burning fireplace. The living/dining area is rather small, but there is a private patio space off the room. The $268 condo fee includes access to a fitness center and a community pool, and a parking space is also included in the list price. While this section of DC is not high on the list for buyers that are looking for a unit of this size, it is quiet and the condo is in walking distance to local bars and restaurants on Wisconsin Avenue.
