This week in What X Rents You, UrbanTurf looked in the $2,000 a month range for the DC area and found that the good rental selection in the price point is currently limited to one-bedrooms.
Sacrificing Space for Location: Kalorama One-Bedroom
Located on the Kalorama side of the Calvert Street bridge within walking distance of the Woodley Park Metro station, this 600 square-foot apartment is asking a little below the market-rate rent for a one-bedroom in the neighborhood. It has hardwood floors, a balcony off a pretty small bedroom, and a light-filled living room. All utilities except electricity are included in the monthly rent. Available July 1st, a one-year lease is required and first month’s rent and security deposit are due at signing.

Crystal City One-Bedroom With Amenities Aplenty
This one-bedroom apartment in the Crystal House is meant for the renter that wants amenities. The Arlington project has a high-end sports club, a roof deck, an Olympic-size swimming pool, a 24-hour concierge, ZipCar, and even an on-site dry cleaner for residents. As for the 891 square-foot unit itself, there is a breakfast bar, two walk-in closets and a large living area. Pets are allowed and the apartment is available immediately.

16th Street One-Bedroom Where Surfboards Are Not Included
Straddling the border of Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant, this one-bedroom has a fairly large and bright living space for DC apartments this size. The apartment has an in-unit washer/dryer and a balcony off the bedroom. The location on the corner of 16th Street and Harvard will likely be too busy for some renters, but it is convenient if you can deal with the noise of one of DC’s main avenues. The apartment is available starting July 1st, and we don’t think the surfboards on the wall come with it.
