Rendering of The Villages at Dakota Crossing
The Villages at Dakota Crossing, a planned residential and retail development in Northeast DC, recently launched its website, and UrbanTurf learned that the project’s first residential units could deliver by next spring.
The development will consist of 334 townhomes and townhome condos in Fort Lincoln, north of New York Avenue and the National Arboretum and just west of the Maryland border (map). According to the website, the condos will start in the upper $200’s and the three- to four-level townhomes will start in the mid $300’s‘s and have up to four bedrooms. Both options come with garages. The units are scheduled to deliver next year, and as of last Friday, 15 units had already sold.
While the area feels a little bare right now, the homes will be within walking distance of The Shops at Dakota Village, a 42-acre retail complex that broke ground in May 2011. The Shops will bring a number of retail options to the area, but the giant parking lot has generated some concern amongst eco-minded bloggers. In keeping with green building trends, however, the homes are Energy Star qualified and The Shops will have white roofs and stormwater drainage systems.
The project comes courtesy of Ryan Homes and represents the national homebuilder’s first foray into the city.
