This installment of Under Contract revisits two recently-featured listings that both went under contract in just over a week.

Nine Days for an Acre in Alexandria
Located on a corner lot in Alexandria, this 5,500 square-foot house hit the market for the first time not too long ago and went under contract nine days later. A skylit foyer introduces the interior, and a couple of steps down, the great room has two panel fireplaces made of Maryland-sourced stone on opposite walls. There are also exposed beams beneath the vaulted ceiling, and three 20 foot-high dormer-like projections above three sets of paned french doors that open onto the heated lanai. This semi-outdoor space is also accessible from the tiled kitchen and the owner's suite, which spans the width of the house and has built-in shelving on either side of a closet, a raised brick fireplace, and a dressing room-like closet. The lower level has a wood-paneled office, storage, a studio, and a sauna, and the property also includes a kidney-shaped outdoor pool.

Snapped up a little quicker was this one-bedroom unit in a boutique building abutting Rock Creek Park in Lanier Heights. The bedroom has double exposure and a ceiling fan, and the bathroom has a white subway tile accent wall in the tub/shower and charcoal square tiled floors. The L-shaped kitchen has tiled floors, gray cabinetry and a honeycomb tile backsplash. A breakfast bar island separates the kitchen from the living room, which has hardwood flooring. An archway in the corner of the living room beside the kitchen marks the entry from the L-shaped hall, which has hooks built in beneath a corner ledge. The unit is also pet-friendly.
