This Week’s Find: The McInturff Touch Just Outside DC

Mark McInturff is one of a handful of brand-name architects in the DC area. Known for his modern, minimalist buildings that are normally accentuated with light and bright colors, the homes that McInturff has worked on are fairly recognizable to the trained eye. UrbanTurf readers might remember the general store in Old Town, Alexandria that the architect helped transform into a three-level home.

Breakfast and kitchen area
The kitchen, living and dining areas of this four-bedroom home, located off River Road about a mile from the Friendship Heights Metro station, were renovated by McInturff’s firm, and the architect’s touch can be seen in the openness of the living space as well as the wall of windows that flood the back of the house with light. In addition to four bedrooms, the home has a study off of the kitchen, a large family room on the lower level that leads out to the back patio, and two patios on the edge of a landscaped backyard. There is also a driveway in the front of the house for parking.
