This Week’s Find: Magazine-Worthy on Capitol Hill

Living Room
Many renovated homes in DC have a dissonance between the facade and the interior, but This Week’s Find’s take on a contemporary interior behind a modest facade is particularly charming.
The rooms in the Capitol Hill two-bedroom row house look like they could be found on a website like Apartment Therapy or a magazine like Dwell — the artful, hip design goes beyond typical modern renovations.

418 East Capitol Street NE
When you first enter, the living room greets you with an oversized metal surround over the fireplace, an extended hearth and a dark wooden bench built on top of the surrounding masonry. The metal and wooden stairs leading up to the second floor are open, allowing you to see through to the back of the living room, which has a second sitting area and another fireplace.

Patio
The use of skylights and windows in the kitchen and the second bedroom not only bring lots of extra light into the home but are also quite stylish, with a long, horizontal design. The kitchen leads back to a skinny dining area, which opens up to a bricked-over patio covered by a mature shade tree.
