Entrance and tiled foyer
This Week’s Find is a Dupont Circle home with layers of history. Originally a one-bedroom L’Enfant Trust House, Smith and Special Space Design and Restoration purchased the home last year and enlisted designer Samadara Smith to build out three levels while preserving its original details.
The foyer features 19th century-style reproduction tile from France, the original staircase, and wood trim which was salvaged and built into the hallway.

Dining room
There are marble countertops, a hand-crafted stained glass pantry door and an orange Bertazzoni gas range in the kitchen. A sliding vintage barn door leads to the en-suite bath in the master bedroom.

The home has also had a brush with fame about a century ago, as actress Tallulah Bankhead lived in the home in the 1920’s, hosting famous Washingtonians for social gatherings. Sinclair Lewis was also a next-door neighbor.
