This Week's Find: Japan Meets Sweden in Travis Price Designed Home

2318 Ashboro Drive
In late January, we ran a piece on the Rock Creek Park home of renowned-architect Travis Price AIA, a property that we noted looked like an 18th-century streetlight when it was illuminated at night.

Living Room
This Week’s Find is another Travis Price-designed residence in the area, which hit the market earlier this week. Like Price’s own residence, the three-bedroom, 7,000 square-foot home abutts Rock Creek Park on the border of Chevy Chase, Md and Chevy Chase DC. It was designed with an Asian aesthetic in mind, which explains the 14-foot Torii gate, the Koi pond that surrounds the living room and the minimalist interior (the blocky exterior was designed with the Swedes in mind). Price’s environmentally-conscious work has been well-documented, and this house was designed with timber-framed walls, so that the minimal amount of energy would be needed to keep the interior temperature at 70 degrees.

Lap Pool
Since the home was built, an exercise room has become the family room/office and two of the upstairs bedrooms have been converted into a home theater. While a home theater is nice, the listing’s most noteworthy amenity is the lap pool that is surrounded by windows on the first level.
