This Week's Find: The Home That John Wall Missed Out On

Many homes have playrooms where kids can unwind. This Week’s Find takes it one step further, with a large, soundproofed gym, complete with a basketball court, on the fourth floor.
The original builder of this four-bedroom colonial in DC’s Berkley neighborhood was a widower with four sons. He wanted to make the house an active place, so he designed a top floor that was as close to a schoolhouse gym as possible. The wide, rectangular space has a basketball hoop hanging on one end (with enough extra ceiling height so your shot can have some decent arc), and the walls and floors are reinforced and soundproofed.

The rest of the house is fairly traditional. It was last on the market in 1997, and has been updated a few times since going up in 1963. Attractive features include a sunroom overlooking the backyard, a sitting room off of the master bedroom, and a long swimming pool and hot tub under a pergola.
