The Bloomingdale Inn Hits the Market, With a Twist

The Bloomingdale Inn
The owners of the Bloomingdale Inn have re-listed their property – this time, with a twist.
The ten-bedroom inn, which spans two adjacent row houses, has been on and off the market since 2010. Previously, the owners listed the bed and breakfast as one large listing at a price of $1.3 million. At that price, it failed to find a buyer.
This time, it appears that buyers have the option of buying one of the houses or the entire ten-bedroom inn (both 2417 and 2415 1st Street NW). The six-bedroom house at 2417 1st Street NW emerged on the market today. The second will also be on the market soon, though that home has a few more complications: there is no kitchen or main staircase. As a result, the home, which also has fewer bedrooms, will be offered for $615,000.
In the past few years, several of DC’s bed and breakfasts have shown up for sale, either because of dwindling business or because the owners simply wanted to take advantage of DC’s strong housing market. Success has been varied: Dupont Circle’s Swann House was originally listed at $6.95 million in March, but it is still on the market after several price reductions and is currently asking $5,399,995. Shaw’s DC Guesthouse dropped from $4 million to a final sale price of $1.95 million after a year on the market.
