The New(ish) 187-Unit Development on the Boards in Southwest DC

The second phase of a two building apartment project that has been in the works for years in Southwest DC is moving forward with a number of changes.
A modification of consequence was recently filed for a planned-unit development (PUD) at 300 K Street SW (map). The new apartment building in the PUD, from the Bernstein Companies and designed by Maurice Walters Architects, is the second part of a two-building project -- a 187-unit apartment development at 301 M Street SW delivered a couple years ago.

The modification of consequence includes a number of changes to the original plans for 300 K Street SW:
- Increased unit count from 175 to 187
- Finalized parking at 90-92 spaces
- Relocation of gym and removal of pool
- Refinements to the penthouse and building facades
Twelve percent of the apartments will be affordable to renters making 60% of area media income. A zoning hearing for the new filing has not been scheduled.
