Another Murry’s will be turning into a residential development, reported Housing Complex this morning. Murry’s is a DC-based food market that and if you grew up in the city in the 80’s, you likely remember their sirloin and ribeye-themed commercials.
Housing Complex reported that the Murry’s location at Georgia Avenue and Morton Street NW (map) will eventually become a 100-unit apartment building with ground floor retail and 40 parking spaces. Redbrick Development, in partnership Yanni Xanthos, doesn’t plan to start on the project until 2014.
The project will join a few others in the pipeline for that stretch of Georgia Avenue, including The Vue, a 112-unit building planned for the southeast corner of Georgia and Morton, and The Heights, which broke ground last week at Georgia Avenue and Lamont Street.
As for other Murry’s going residential, apartment developer Insight Property Group bought the location on the 600 block of H Street with residences in mind, and as Lydia DePillis noted “The Murry’s at Skyland Town Center has been on notice since, well, forever.”
