Nicklas Backstrom's $12 Million McLean Home Finds A Buyer

Nicklas Backstrom, arguably one of the best professional hockey players of the last 20 years, has found a buyer for his 16,000 square-foot McLean home.
The former center for the Washington Capitals listed the seven-bedroom home back in June with Sherif Abdalla and Ali Farhadov of Compass, and it went under contract on Monday. Backstrom purchased the home just after it was built in 2021 for $8.5 million; the most recent list price was $11.995 million.

The home features a number of amenities that come with a home carrying a price tag of this size, including a home gym and spa, theater, elevator and outdoor pool and firepit.
Backstrom announced in 2023 that he was stepping away from professional hockey to focus on his health. He joins a list of DC athletes that have sold their homes in the DC region in recent years. Here are a few others:
