New Luxury Condo Project Coming to Bethesda

The Post’s Jonathan O’Connell reported this morning that a new condo project will be breaking ground in Bethesda next year.

Bethesda Lane
The project, a partnership between seasoned condo developers PN Hoffman and StonebridgeCarras, will initially have 60 luxury condos ranging in price from $750,000 to $3 million. However, from the article, it sounds like the condo/retail development will be much larger once all construction is complete in 2014:
“In all, the two plan 250 units, 40,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and 1,300 underground parking spaces on what is now a county-owned parking lot at the corner of Bethesda and Woodmont avenues.”
That location is sure to be a big draw, as it is the southern end of Bethesda Row, the area’s retail and restaurant corridor. Many of the area’s popular eating and shopping options are less than a block away. The Metro is a seven-minute walk.
Following in the footsteps of DC condo projects like The Lacey (named after Florida Avenue Grill proprietor Lacey Wilson), one of the two new buildings will be called The Darcy in honor of Bethesda store owner William E. Darcy.
The construction of the new condos will not come without its bumps. O’Connell noted that not only will the developers have to relocate fiber-optic cables at the building site, which will likely result in road closures, but the 750 spaces offered by the parking lot will be “lost” until the new underground lot is built.
