The extension of the Metro out to Dulles Airport will be formalized today as Department of Transportation officials sign an agreement to provide $900 million for the project, according to WAMU.
The Silver Line metrorail will extend from northwest Arlington to Dulles and then on into Loudoun County. The first phase will start near the East Falls Church Metro on the Orange Line and go through Tysons Corner and along the Dulles Access Road into Reston. It is expected to cost around $2.6 billion and the completion date is 2013.
Access to the airport will not occur until the second phase when the Metro will extend to Dulles International and into Loudoun County. This phase will be complete in 2015 and cost around $2.5 billion.
