The Georgetown real estate portfolio of the couple that owns two of the city’s most expensive homes may soon get a little smaller.
Sachiko Kuno and Ryuji Ueno, the biotech tycoons who purchased Evermay and Halcyon House last year, are selling the other home they own in DC’s toniest neighborhood. A six-bedroom Federal townhouse that the couple owns at 3128 P Street NW (map) went on the market on Friday for $3.695 million. The four-level home has a double living room with dual fireplaces, a huge master suite, an in-law suite with a second kitchen and a two-car garage with a driveway.
Over the past 18 months, Kuno and Ueno made headlines for purchasing the two most expensive homes in the city for more than 50 percent off their original list prices.
UrbanTurf broke news of the first purchase when they bought the Georgetown estate Evermay in July 2011 for $22 million, down from an original asking price of $49 million. In recent years, the home at 1623 28th Street NW (map) had been used for exclusive parties and fundraisers, and was rumored to be on Oprah’s short list when she was DC house hunting.

However, the couple was not done. A few months later, the husband and wife team snapped up Halcyon House, the new most expensive home on the market, for $11 million. The house, located at 3400-3410 Prospect Street NW (map), was originally listed a few years ago for $30 million, and the price subsequently dropped a few times.
It will be interesting to see if someone snaps up 3128 P Street NW at a discount.
