An air hockey table on the auction block.
Ever wish you could ride a virtual Jet-Ski in the middle of your living room or challenge your housemates to Skee-Ball? Good news, DC sports fans: ESPN Zone, the sports bar/video game mecca that closed its doors at 555 12th Street NW (map) in June 2010, is auctioning off their assets via an internet auction.
This list of items is lengthy and the bidding on some starts at just $.05. The auction is open now and closes at 11am on November 16th. (Click “Preview” for the full list of items.)
While many items will probably not fit in with typical urban decor, the list isn’t just full of nacho cheese dispensers. Some of the more interesting items include an air hockey table, a Golden Tee arcade-style video game, a basketball shooting game like you might find at a state fair and even a photo of Ronald and Nancy Reagan walking in a cemetery. There are also some more universally appealing offerings. For example, this may be a good opportunity to snag a Herman Miller Aeron chair on the cheap or some kitchenware; the list is packed with pots, pans, mugs and dishes.
The DC ESPN Zone was open from 2000 until 2010. There are just two locations left, both in Southern California.
