DC to Auction 35 Vacant Properties For Workforce Housing

Last year, the District Department of Housing and Community Development committed to clear its backlog of vacant properties and move them toward development. This month, the city is enlisting an auction house to help them do just that.
As part of the newly-announced Vacant to Vibrant DC initiative, DHCD is partnering with the Alex Cooper Auction House to hold an online auction for 35 properties across the city, including vacant houses, unimproved lots and small blighted apartment buildings. These sites are expected to produce fifty units of workforce housing.
Each site has an initial deposit of $5,000 and the bidding will open at $20,000. DHCD is holding informational sessions on January 8th and 9th; bidding opens January 18th. The properties are as follows:
