The Washington Business Journal reported Monday afternoon that the city plans to sell a parking lot in Shaw, a section of DC where a high premium is placed on developable land.
From the WBJ:
The Department of Housing and Community Development will issue a solicitation for offers later this month for the parking lot at Eighth and T streets NW, adjacent to the Hospitality High School of Washington, D.C.‘s new home. The department wants mixed-income housing on the property.
The plot sits smack dab in the middle of a slew of other ongoing development projects, including (but certainly not limited to):
- The 375-unit Atlantic Plumbing development at V and 8th Street NW and 242-unit two-building complex on the south side of Florida Avenue NW between 7th Street and 9th Streets from JBG, which could include an independent movie theater.
- A 105-unit residential building with approximately 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail at 7th and R Street NW from TenSquare, Chapman and R2L:Architects.
