In April 2011, the Department of Justice shut down online poker in the U.S., which meant that many folks who made a living folding and raising in front of a computer screen had to find another way to make a living. Two of the highest-stakes U.S.-based poker players at the time, Di and Hac Dang, are actually from the DC area. Despite having won millions of dollars in the online poker world, they weren’t all that phased by the news, telling one poker outlet that they would be moving on to “bigger and better things.”
It appears that by “bigger and better things”, they meant the restaurant business. Di Dang, originally from Fairfax Station, is one of the names behind Chasin’ Tails, a Cajun-style crawfish restaurant that will open soon at 2200 North Westmoreland Street (map) near the East Falls Church Metro station.
A description of the restaurant from its Facebook page:
“Our concept is centered around fun, friends, family and food. Utensils are discouraged. Getting hands on is encouraged. Crawfish are our mainstay, but we offer a good variety of seafood including shrimp, oysters, crab, and fish. Feel free to drop by anytime for to watch a game, enjoy good food and a few drinks!”
No word on when the restaurant will open or if they will be hosting poker tournaments.
