319-Unit "Hip" Wheaton Development May Be Moving Forward
A rendering of the proposed Wheaton development.
AVA Wheaton, a 319-unit development targeted at young, hip, urban renters, may finally be moving forward, according to a report by East MoCo published Thursday morning.
The blog reports that developer Avalon Bay has requested a construction permit from Montgomery County for the site, which is located at the intersection of Georgia and Blueridge Avenues.
AVA is a subsidiary brand of Avalon Bay, a developer known for upscale apartments. AVA was introduced a few years ago to diversify the company’s renter. It targets young, urban renters and emphasizes location and cool design. AVA H Street, the first of the brand’s projects in DC, features an electric car charging port, “chill spaces” with WiFi, and apartments WITH chalkboard walls.
AVA’S other DC development is in Van Ness, and AVA NoMa is currently under construction and is slated to open in 2017.
