A University Made of Gingerbread

Gingertown, a gingerbread design contest founded by David M. Schwarz Architects, will focus on collegiate life this year, reported CityBizList.
On November 26th, architects, engineers, contractors and other interested folks will have four hours to construct a small-scale university, using materials like gingerbread, hard candy, gumdrops, jelly beans and frosting.
David M. Schwartz created the master plan with 50 structures, including libraries, a performing arts center, academic buildings, and other typically collegiate structures, such as Beta Eta Pie Fraternity, Thurgood Marshmallow School of Law, Oh Henry Literary Society and Lifesavers Hospital. Rice Crispies streets will connect the structures, and candy cane lampposts will dot the campus.
The result will be on view at 1133 Connecticut Avenue NW until November 30th. Individual buildings will then travel to various hospitals and community organizations…unless they are eaten en route.
