Massive Mixed-Use Development Planned Adjacent to the Bethesda Farm Women's Market
While dense development has been cropping up all over downtown Bethesda, two months ago, it was recently reported that a development group purchased the Bethesda Farm Women's Market building with plans to preserve that landmark and redevelop the surrounding parcels. Now, plans are emerging to develop a site steps away.
As Robert Dyer reports, Columbia Realty Venture has unveiled plans to redevelop the commercial property at 7121 Wisconsin Avenue (map) into a 16-story mixed-use project. The redevelopment would deliver apartments above retail.
The market building will remain next door and its surroundings will be improved to create a more park-like environment. The applicant has stated that the architecture and massing of the two buildings will "share a special dialogue".
