A recent presentation offered an early glimpse of what is in store for the future of the 4-H campus along Connecticut Avenue.
In December, the 12-acre National 4-H Council property in Chevy Chase sold, paving the way for a luxury senior living community. Galerie Living and Community Three shared an overarching vision of that community last month, wherein the 228,000 square-foot building at 7100 Connecticut Avenue (map) will be replaced with a series of smaller buildings and courtyards. Torti Gallas + Partners is the architect.

An aerial site plan provides a sense of the on-site amenities that will be offered, including a theater, a clubhouse, a pool, a spa, a central plaza, a café, and potentially an ice cream shop. A fountain will greet visitors as they come off Connecticut Avenue, and throughout the campus there will be a variety of courtyards, with outdoor dining, a greenhouse, fountains and pergolas, and bocce courts. There will also be walking trails that encircle the campus, and all of the parking will be below grade.
Very early renderings for the buildings reveal features like gabled roofs, dormer windows and stone facades meant to help the development fit into the surrounding community.
"We wanted to connect with the neighborhood character with the buildings that we are proposing," Sarah Alexander with Torti Gallas. "So [using] things that you see throughout the neighborhood of Chevy Chase."
The development team expects to file a map amendment this year and begin the site plan process next summer in hopes of delivering the project in 2026.
