A new 8-unit development has been proposed for Buzzard Point, the latest project that speaks to the growing interest from developers in the SW neighborhood.
Stadium District Lofts will be an 8-unit, infill development at 1542 First Street SW (map), according to documents filed with the Zoning Commission. The four-story building will house a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units, and will not have retail. The developer is looking for a variance from providing three on-site parking spaces.

“Centered in the middle of Buzzard Point, Stadium District Lofts will likely be one of the first ‘standard setting’ smaller infill developments in sync with the Buzzard Point Vision Framework & Implementation Plan (Public Draft) as it provides a transition from the higher density development south of Q Street SW to the existing lower R-4 Density Residential developments to the north,” the developer wrote to the Commission.
Buzzard Point has been a popular area for development news of late. Last week, news came of the first mixed-use development on the boards for the area, a 100-unit residential project from Capital City Real Estate.
