40-Unit Apartment Building Planned For Vacant Shaw Lot

There are new plans in the works for a vacant lot along 9th Street NW in Shaw.
Kadida Development Group has filed plans with DC's Historic Preservation Board for a 40-unit apartment building on the lot located at 1322 9th Street NW (map). The units will range in size from approximately 420 square feet to 1,100 square feet. The new project is designed by Architextual.

This is not the first idea pitched for this site. Almost two years ago to the day, Fillat+Architecture submitted plans for a five-story, 104-room "lifestyle hotel" on the same lot.
Development along 9th Street has been picking up of late. Two blocks north of this development site, Monarch Urban will redevelop the properties located at 1515 9th Street NW (map) into a 45-unit condo development.
