What Mount Pleasant Needs Is...

Last week, in the first of what will be a series of polls about what new types of establishments DC residents would like to see come to their area, UrbanTurf asked readers what sort of place should open up in Mount Pleasant.
The results? Readers were divided amongst various food-related choices. Three options — a bistro along the lines of Acqua al 2 or Estadio, a sandwich shop that would rival So’s Your Mom on Columbia Road and a small grocery store that sells brand name goods as well as organic goods — each represent a healthy section of pie. A boutique hair salon and a small art gallery were at the bottom of the list.
Those hungry for another restaurant option in the neighborhood are in luck: Beau Thai, the popular Thai restaurant in east Shaw, will be opening up another outpost at 3162 Mt. Pleasant Street NW by the end of the year.
